Organization leadership survey

Why do an organization leadership survey?
By the time they find themselves in higher level positions, most leaders have received significant feedback regarding their personal strengths and weaknesses. Rather, they should be taught to understand the levels and qualities of required leadership behaviors in the organization as a whole. Knowing this provides the true lever for unleashing the people power to overcome the challenges faced by the organization in its marketplace. Guided by the direction of the strategic plan and fueled by the power of leadership, they are prepared to sail their organization through uncharted waters.

What is the collective strength of the leadership group? What do they collectively need to improve? The organization leadership survey shows where everyone is on The Leader’s Map and how putting the right tools in the box provides leaders with the ammunition to overcome the competitive enemy.

What is the purpose of the survey?
Leaders face five universal leadership challenges. Encouraging leaders throughout the organization to work together to meet these challenges more effectively is certain to improve their and the organization’s performance.

The Leader's Toolbox® Organization Leadership Survey measures the leadership challenges faced by your organization and how well the leaders, collectively, are responding to them. The survey is designed to help you formulate a common leadership agenda.

Who participates in the survey?
The survey is administered on line through The Leader's Toolbox® Internet website. You can target a particular audience or ask all employees to participate in the survey. Responses are collected and scored electronically. All answers remain confidential.

What does the survey measure?
The survey measures the five universal leadership challenges explained by the Leader’s Map Tool:

  • Reframe the future
  • Develop Commitment
  • Teach and Learn
  • Build Community
  • Balance Paradox

Each of the five challenges is further divided into three subscales.

  • Environment: To what degree is the organization experiencing the need to deal with the challenges?
  • Effectiveness: To what degree is the leadership effective in addressing the challenges?
  • Experience: To what degree is each individual personally experiencing the effectiveness of their immediate leader in addressing each of the challenges?

The survey contains 76 questions that are rated on a five-point scale. Demographic questions are added to facilitate analysis and reporting. There are also opportunities to include open-ended questions. Survey questions can be customized to meet the specific needs of your organization.

What do the reports contain?
Analysis and reporting are based on the needs of the organization. The responses to each question are analyzed individually by leadership challenge and subcategory. Participant responses to the open-ended questions are presented exactly as they are given. Several examples of the reporting follow:
